Mike Thompson, Jr. created SportsInFairfax.org after he joined the Fairfax County Athletic Council. As Mike became more and more involved in a variety of community activities, it has become a resource for information about various topics. The site was relaunched in January 2017 when Mike invited a broad array of people to become regular contributors.

Mike serves on the Fairfax County Park Authority Board and the Fairfax County Athletic Council – representing the Springfield District in both cases. He is also on the board of Visit Fairfax. Mike is a member of the Fairfax County Sports Marketing Committee and spent several years on the Fairfax County Soccer Council including one as the council’s secretary. Mike also serves on the board of the Burke Civic Ballet.
He joined the board of Burke Athletic Club in 2006 and has been chairman and president since 2007. He’s been a member of the Lake Braddock Athletic Boosters since 2010 and served as President for three years.
Mike graduated from Lake Braddock and did his undergraduate work at Emory University. He received a law degree from the University of Richmond. Mike and his wife Maureen live in Burke and have two daughters.
